"Course has continued to deteriorate. Have played at Santa Maria for over 25 years. No more. They altered the course a few years ago and have ruined its character. Although our 4 ball played in 4 hours 10 minutes ( time allowed 4.28) we were hounded by the marshals. The reason being they are overbooking the course and are short of buggies and are hurrying players along so they can reuse buggies. Overall experience was very poor." - Bill Houghton

"Course totally overcrowded. Golfers lined up like taxi ranks on about 40% of the holes. Would seriously wonder about going back again after today’s 5 hours 15 minutes 18 holes"

"They allowed too many people on the course. Our tee time was delayed by 30 minutes when we got there and we then had to wait on every tee."
