The course was in poor condition generally. The grass was long on the tees needing a longer tee. The greens were patchy with signs of ant infestation in places. The greens needed cutting and there were clumps of grass on the greens. The holes were very poorly cut with rough edges. The bunkers had probably not been raked in weeks, and a lot of bunkers did not have rakes. It could be a really good course, but if we had booked into the Golf Hotel as part of a golf package we would have been very disappointed. This course needs better maintenance. "

This is a desert-style course and it's important to find the fairway. It's pretty flat and they have used the contours well to design an interesting course, with some water coming into play. They must have changed the order of the holes, because Garmin starts on the 4th (this was correct). Long walks between green and tee and time spent looking for balls when they go off into the desert grasses meant that it took longer to play than the length would indicate - 4.5 hours (4-ball pace as we were following some 4-balls). Once I got the hang of the greens (which are very different from the UK), I enjoyed the course." - Amanda Bouch

The course is in good condition. Access to the Hills Clubhouse from the adjacent road is restricted to buggies and pedestrians due to civil engineering roadworkings but a shuttle buggy is in operation from the nearby car park this is availed by ringing the clubhouse on your cell phone."

We have played the course many times and always enjoyed it even though it is only a 9 hole course.We go round twice to make up 18 holes and if you go round twice you have a chance to correct any mistakes made on the first circuit. There is development work being done on the complex of the three courses (Ruins, Lakes & Hills courses). The Lakes course and clubhouse is closed at the moment. A new service road is being constructed in the vicinity of the Hills clubhouse and the taxi dropped us off in an adjacent car park which is about 300yds from the clubhouse but by arrangement a buggy will pick you up. Because you have to access the Ruins from the Hills you start at the 4th Tee and acaddy man escorts you to the tee which is a fair drive from the Hills. " - Bob & Sue Garner

The organisation for tee times is terrible, we played the course twice in 4 days, and after a big mix up the first time, with players not wanting to arrange with the starters, we were pushed behind after having received the suggestion to split up as a couple because 6 players insisted on wanting to play as a three ball each. Todays without notice even at reception when checking in, we were moved from 1130 to 1138. We have full respect that not everyone’s has played golf for long, but to be teamed up with someone who started the game a very few months ago is simply not fair, normally there is some control as to whether players have a basic ability of the game, but having to wait for someone hitting 15 to 20 times on a single hole is not enticing. We feel extremely unhappy as this eventually hampers with one’s own game. Course is in very good condition and greens are at great speed which would be fun, but just having to wait as the other player is being mentored is just too much. The people were a very nice couple, but her ability should not take her to a course…." - tcswede

I have been playing on the North course many times during 10 years and I have never seen the greens in this very bad shape as they were today. Buggy paths needs renovation. Played Los Moriscos on June 14, 2021. Experienced the course as a beginner's course, but with quite a few water obstacles. The course is flat with relatively wide fairways, which means that no golf cart is needed. Although several of the holes are close to the sea, we lacked a sea view. The greens were of very good quality. On tees and fairways it was unfortunately quite long grass. The layout of some of the holes, e.g. holes 13 and 14, is quite exciting but as a whole the course felt a bit boring. The overall assessment will be approved (2,5), but we will probably not return, especially as the courses west of Nerja are much better managed and have a more fun layout." - Lars

Vi spelade oliv/pine vilket är två olika 9-hålare. Vi gick med vagn. Rekommenderar golfbil till pine vars bansträckning upplevs gå kors och tvärs och upp och ned med promenader mellan hålen som några i sällskapet ledsnade på. Allt fungerade klockrent på stället trots, eller på grund av, Corona. Nästan öde på banan. Restaurangen led nog av situationen och maten var rätt och slätt usel. They have changed from this year the format of the tees. Instead of having White Yellow Blue end Red Tees as most of the golf courses they have numbers, 63, 59, 54 and 48. Consequently, if last year I was starting from yellow, corresponding to 59 in the new format, this year they told me that with my hcp ( 17 same as last year!) I had to start from 54, corresponding to blue tees last year. Some of the holes with this new format became much shorter and i think this was done to increase the number of games during the day.Bit disappointing but still a great course." - mauriziogolf

Guadalmina North is a fun little course. Best par 3 is in a roundabout on the A7 main road. You are almost litteraly playing in the middle of the traffic......But the hole is nice and fun. The almost unplayable hole 13 has had a lot of trees removed and is now a better golfhole. As most courses on the Costa, the place is overpriced compared to what they deliver....But what the heck.....We come for the sun :-)" - Flandry

Long and testing with a lot of rough ground only just off of the fairways, unfairly penalising what would on other courses be a reasonable tee shot. Lots of bunkers protecting greens that were receptive to the ball and very quick. Biggest problem was slow play - 5.5 hours for our round with no course marshalls to speed things up. Buggies are recommended due to the extensive walks between green and tee."

Having read several reviews complaining about the poor condition of the course we were pleasantly surprised by the condition of the fairways and greens. Some outlying areas of greens were being reseeded and were GUR but this did not impinge. The course is not massively challenging but an enjoyable venue for all handicaps." - Tom

The course is quite an open course....and great for any reasonable or high handicap golfer, There are quite a few holes with banks to the side of the fairways that are very forgiving as the balls roll down onto the fairways (in most cases!) Buggy paths are good and you could walk this course if you proffer. The green are well kept & in good condition and there are a couple of interesting par three's. and 1 short par 4 that could really be a long par three. Club house is good and there is a great little outside cafe stop at the buggy pick up that's good for coffee and bite before you go or to take on your way. Most fairways are open but with turns in them (left or right) and are in good condition. Good value for money. Regards Grant" - Grant Smith

Tough but fair course. generally good condition. When we teed off there was no caddy master, so it was quite congested in front and behind. This got better as we got to hole 6 or so, but one of the marshalls was surly and telling us to speed up. We explained we could only go as fast as the people in front. The other marshall (English guy)was far more informed and understanding saying we were bang on time at the 10th tee. Don't think it helped that people in front were trolleying or carrying their clubs, with a fair distance between green to next tee in some cases? Drinks seemed to be very expensive" - Mike T

Played this last year, and this year, after giving it a miss for many years due to poor state of course under Oceanico. Marked improvement from previous years, as now under Dom Pedro. Low handicappers may find it not that challenging, but a good and fair test for mid to high handicappers. 10th hole is really nice, hitting blind over the hill, down to the green. The course is lacking investment , water hazards are dry and fairways are poor.The greens are in good condition but very slow.. The only place to park is now the hotel which will charge about 12 euros ! They have hardly any staff in restaurant so getting food or drink is a joke.. The course is nice but this day they put, to much, sand on all green. I like the layout. The buggy had problem with the brake. When you stop the car and was on the tee or green the break lose and car went down. Very dangerus. The staff is always very nice. They need to do something about the paths. Some part is really bad. A classic Trent Jones design and in excellent condition. A lot of investment has gone into the course and buggies and better staff and it shows. The front nine is quite hilly but still very playable and a stream comes into play on four holes. The back nine is flatter but made very interesting to play by good design. The eighteenth hole is arguably the best finishing hole on the Costa Del Sol an uphill par five which is a dog left. A true three shotter with the last shot over water to the green in front of the clubhouse. A five is always a good score on this hole. In the last few years they have added new buggies and remodelled parts of the clubhouse. More importantly they have upgraded the staff who are now the best I have encountered on the Costa. They made it a pleasure to play there coupled with the excellence of the course ." - Paul Twigden

We played this after some rain so course was slightly damp but did not hinder us. Tees were a little tatty, fairways good, greens very good. Course layout good. The course layout and condition was very good, however it is spoilt by the dreadful greens. The greens are of a grass that none of us had ever seen,although they ran true, were very very slow and a strange colour. To add to this they had run out of buggies, so some of us used the "boards" they have, others had to use trolleys and it quite a walk from green to tee, so buggies are definitely required. We left the course disappointed to be honest." - Pete

Very hilly golf course constructed over difficult terrain. All things considered it is quite playable but on some holes the elevation change is a 100 feet or so which can make for some demanding uphill shots. A buggy is essential on this course for most people but beware the cart paths are very steep and slippery. A good experience but not to be played regularly.
